Hearing a voice
Hearing voices, A voice with no one there, Mysterious voice
A voice with no one behind it, speaking clearly in the dark or whispering just past your shoulder, makes for one of the eeriest dream moments, and one of the most memorable. Often it delivers something your waking mind is still circling: a warning, a piece of advice, a sentence you needed to hear. Try to recall the exact words; they often make more sense later in the day. A kind, familiar voice can carry the comfort of someone you love, while a stern one may be your own high standards speaking up. If you couldn't make out the words, a feeling is still looking for words.
Dream variations
- A voice giving you adviceYour own good sense is speaking louder than usual. Hold the advice up against a decision you're facing and see whether it fits.
- Many voices at onceToo many opinions are crowding your thinking. Pick the one person whose judgment you value most and listen to them first.
- A voice you can't placeAn idea has arrived without a clear source, and that makes it easy to wave away. Judge it on what it says, not on whose it might be.
- A voice singing nearbySomething soothing is within easy reach, even if you've stopped noticing it. Make room for music, or for people whose company settles you.
