Revenge
Getting revenge, Getting even, Vengeance
Dreams of revenge can be startling, especially if you'd never act that way in real life. They often follow a moment when you felt powerless, embarrassed or treated unfairly, and the dream hands you the control you didn't have then. That doesn't make it a wish to hurt anyone; it's your mind replaying the scene with a different ending. If getting even felt good, the hurt may still need to be acknowledged out loud. If it felt hollow, you already sense that letting go would serve you better than winning.
Dream variations
- Planning revenge but never actingYou're turning a hurt over and over in your head. Write down what you'd like the other person to understand; that alone can loosen its grip.
- Someone taking revenge on youA guilty feeling has surfaced, even over something small. Think about what you'd want to hear in their place, and offer that.
- Revenge that backfiresTrying to get even has started to tangle up your own life. Step out of the back-and-forth; the other person can keep the last word.
- Choosing not to take revengeYou've decided the story doesn't need a payback ending. Walking away took more strength than striking back would have.
