A mole spends almost its whole life underground, tunneling through the dark and finding its way by touch rather than sight. That makes it a natural stand-in for work going on out of sight, yours or someone else's, that shows only as a little mound on the surface. Since 'mole' is also a word for someone passing secrets from the inside, the dream can touch on doubts about who's on your side. And the old saying about mountains and molehills may simply ask whether a problem is really as big as it feels.
