Boxing Day
St. Stephen's Day, Day after Christmas, Boxing Day sales
Boxing Day, December 26, is a holiday in Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and in most of Ireland it's St. Stephen's Day. The name is often traced to the Christmas box, a gift of money or goods once handed to servants and tradespeople after the holiday. Today it means leftovers, long walks, big sales and a full day of sport. A Boxing Day dream often has the feel of the morning after: the main event is over, and you're enjoying, or sorting through, what it left behind. It can come when you need a slower day after a busy stretch.
Dream variations
- Eating Christmas leftoversThe good things from a big effort are still feeding you. Before you rush on to the next goal, take one more day to appreciate what you've already made.
- The house quiet after the guests leaveRelief and a little emptiness are sitting side by side. Both are natural after a full, noisy time, so let the quiet settle before you fill it.
- Running into the sea for a Boxing Day dipIn many British seaside towns, people charge into the cold water in costume for charity. You're ready to do something a little daft with other people for a good cause, and the shared shrieks are half the fun.
