A feast is the dream version of having more than enough: long tables, overflowing dishes and more food than anyone could finish. It often turns up after a lean stretch, as if you're ready to stop counting and enjoy. A feast can also be about appetite in a wider sense, for experiences, company and pleasure. Eating far past full can come from a fear that good things won't last, so you grab all you can. An empty banquet hall with the table still set can show a celebration you're waiting for, or one you feel you missed.
