Squid
Giant squid, Calamari, Kraken
Squid are sleek, fast swimmers of the open sea, able to shoot off backward in a burst when danger comes near. The giant squid lived for centuries in sailors' stories, half fact and half legend, until it was finally photographed alive in its deep-sea home in 2004. That gives a squid dream a sense of the deep unknown: something large and real that rarely comes to the surface. Some squid glow in the dark water, which can suggest a talent that shines best when things look bleak. Eating calamari is the casual, sociable side of the same creature.
Dream variations
- A giant squid rising from the deepSomething big you've kept far below the surface is coming up. Let it rise; up close it's less of a monster than it seemed in the dark.
- A squid shooting off backwardYour instinct is to back out of a tense moment, fast. Step back if you need to, and return when you feel steadier.
- Sharing fried calamari with friendsYou're turning something strange into easy, shared fun. Keep that light touch.
