Sauna
Steam room, Finnish sauna, Steam bath
A sauna asks you to sit in strong heat on purpose, letting the sweat run until you step out feeling lighter. The dream version often relates to pressure you've chosen, like a tough training plan, a demanding project or an honest conversation, that you expect to leave you clearer afterward. Water hissing on the hot stones is a moment of sudden intensity. Sharing a sauna with others has an old, equalizing feel, since titles and fancy clothes stay outside the door. If the heat felt unbearable, you may be putting up with more than you need to.
Dream variations
- Jumping into cold water after the saunaYou're up for a bracing change after a heated stretch. The shock will pass quickly, and you'll feel wide awake.
- Unable to leave the saunaYou feel you have to stay in a heated situation to prove you can take it. Nobody's handing out medals; leaving when you've had enough is allowed.
- A sauna full of strangersYou're among people you don't know, with nowhere to hide. Strike up a conversation; small talk comes easier in close quarters.
- Ladling water on the stonesYou're turning up the intensity on purpose. Do it in small splashes so you stay in control.
