Pencil

Pencils, Colored pencils, Pencil sharpener

Pencils are the tools of first drafts: they write, sketch and, best of all, can be erased. A pencil dream is usually about plans that aren't final yet, ideas you're trying out without committing to them in ink. A freshly sharpened pencil means you feel prepared and eager to start. Pencils also take you back to school days, the smell of wood shavings and the first page of a new term. Colored pencils add creativity and play, a sign your imagination wants some time of its own.

Dream variations

• Erasing what you wroteYou're allowed to change your mind. Rub out the plan that no longer works and sketch a new one.
• A pencil that keeps breakingYou're pressing too hard on something delicate. Ease up and the work will go more smoothly.
• Filling in an important form in pencilPart of you wants to keep your options open. Decide which choices you can make final now.
