New car
Buying a car, Getting a new car, Brand-new car
That new-car smell, the shiny paint and the unfamiliar dashboard make a new car dream exciting and a little nerve-racking. The dream is common at the start of a new role or a new way of moving through life, whether that's a job, a partnership or a more confident image. If you chose the car yourself, you feel in charge of the direction you're heading. If it was handed to you, someone else may be shaping your path. The kind of car matters: a practical one goes with sensible plans, a flashy sports car with a wish to be noticed.
Dream variations
- Taking a test driveYou're trying out a new path, role or habit. Give it a real trial on an ordinary day, not just a good one.
- Not knowing where the controls areYou have something new and powerful in your hands but haven't learned how it works. Take a few slow laps around the block before you head for the highway.
- Scratching your new carYou're worried about spoiling something good. A few small dents won't take away the joy of having it.
- Someone else's new carAnother person's progress has caught your eye. Let it inspire you rather than measure you.
