Meditation
Meditating, Mindfulness, Sitting in silence
Sitting still with closed eyes and following your breath is a practice found in many traditions, from Buddhist monasteries to a quiet corner of a living room. A meditation dream may arrive when you're looking for a clearer view of your own thoughts, or for a pause in a crowded schedule. If it came easily, you're more centered than you may realize. If your mind kept wandering, the dream may be showing how many things are pulling at you at once. Where you sat counts too: a mountaintop, a beach or a noisy train station each frames the stillness differently.
Dream variations
- Unable to quiet your thoughtsThe harder you push for calm, the louder the noise gets. Let the thoughts drift past like traffic, without chasing any of them.
- Meditating in a busy placeYou're looking for calm without waiting for perfect conditions. Use in-between moments, like a bus ride or a wait in line, for a minute of quiet attention.
- Floating while meditatingYou're rising above a problem that used to weigh you down. Take in the distance, then come back to earth to act.
- Meditating with a groupYou'd love to share a quiet purpose with others. Look for people who value the same things you do.
