Lord Shiva
Shiva, Mahadev, Shiva lingam
For Hindus, Lord Shiva is the great god of destruction and renewal, the one who clears away what is worn out so that creation can begin again. He is pictured meditating on Mount Kailash, with a crescent moon and the river Ganga in his matted hair, a serpent around his neck and a trident in his hand. In a dream he may appear in that form, as Nataraja, the cosmic dancer, or as the Shiva lingam worshipped in temples. Many devotees take such a dream as a blessing and a call to steady devotion. In a wider sense it can be about letting an old pattern end, inner stillness and the strength that comes from self-discipline.
