ID card
Identity card, Lost ID, Photo ID
An ID card is the small proof of who you are that you hand over at a door, a desk or a counter. Such a card tends to show up in dreams when your role is changing or being questioned, as when you join a new group, start a new job or wonder whether an old label still fits. Being asked for it and not having it can show a fear of being doubted and having to prove yourself again. A work badge or student card goes with belonging: the right to walk in and be counted as one of the group. Whose name was on the card can be the real clue.
Dream variations
- Your ID with someone else's nameYou've been living by another person's idea of who you should be. Notice which parts truly feel like yours.
- Not having your ID when askedYou're bracing for a test nobody has actually set. Walk in as if you belong, and notice how rarely anyone asks.
- An old student IDA past version of you is on your mind, with its hopes and plans. Compare notes with that younger self; you may be further along than they imagined.
- A blank ID cardYou're between labels right now. Enjoy not being pinned down while you work out what fits.
