Actor

Actress, Acting, Audition

Actors spend their days stepping into other people's shoes, and an actor in your dream can point to that same skill in you: understanding someone by imagining how they feel. It can also be a rehearsal. Many people dream of acting when they're preparing for a real conversation or a big day and want it to go well. Being handed a script often shows you're following plans someone else wrote, while improvising suggests you're willing to rely on your own instincts. An audition carries the hope of being chosen, and the nerves that come with it.

Dream variations

• Being cast in a role you didn't wantOthers have decided what you're good for. Show them, kindly, a side they haven't seen yet.
• AuditioningYou want to be picked for something, and you're preparing hard. Show what you actually do well, not what you think they want.
• Working with a famous actorYou're sharing the stage with someone who draws all the attention. Do your own part well; it counts even when the applause goes elsewhere.
• Rehearsing over and overYou're getting ready for a moment that matters. A little practice helps; too much can make you stiff.
