Abandonment
Being abandoned, Abandoned by a partner, Deserted
Being abandoned by someone who was supposed to stay is one of the rawest feelings a dream can stir. It often surfaces when a bond you rely on is shifting, for example a partner getting busier, a parent growing older or a friend moving on, even if nobody has actually gone anywhere. For some people it touches an old wound from childhood that reopens in times of change. What it measures is how much you lean on them, not whether they'll go, and it asks whether you also have ground of your own to stand on. If you walked away yourself, you may be leaving behind a role or duty you've outgrown.

- A parent leaving youSomething recent has touched an early need for safety. Notice what set it off; once you see the link to back then, the feeling loses some of its force.
- Abandoning someone yourselfYou're stepping away from an obligation, a person or an old version of yourself. Do it honestly, and the guilt will shrink.
