Waiting room

Waiting area, Lobby, Reception area

A waiting room, with its rows of chairs, old magazines and a clock you keep glancing at, is a space between before and after. Dreams set there often come when someone else decides when your life moves forward, like after an interview or before a big answer. A quiet, comfortable waiting room shows you're handling the delay well. A crowded, stuffy one can reveal frustration with a wait that seems to have no end. Who sat with you matters, because company makes waiting a lot easier.

Dream variations

• Waiting for your name to be calledYou're ready for your turn and tired of sitting still. Let the people in charge know you're still here.
• A waiting room with no way outYou feel stuck with no clear next step. Ask for information; not knowing is often the hardest part.
• Everyone gets called except youYou feel passed over while others go ahead. Ask whether you're on the list at all; sometimes it's a simple mix-up.
• Reading old magazines while you waitYou're filling time with things that don't matter much. Take along something of your own to work on.
