Report card
A report card sums up months of effort in a few letters and a line of comments, and that's partly why it returns in adult dreams. It often appears when you feel you're about to be summed up, in a performance review, a family gathering or your own year-end reckoning. Good grades come with relief and a quiet pride you may not voice when awake. Bad grades stir the old dread of bringing them home, which can point to someone whose approval still matters a lot to you. Read the comments, too, if you can recall them; they're often the part your mind wanted you to see.

Dream variations
Hiding a bad report card
You'd rather not show someone how a project or plan is really going. Sharing it early usually goes better than being found out.
Straight A's
You're doing well and may finally believe it. Let the good marks count, without immediately raising the bar.
A report card with someone else's name
You feel judged for things that aren't yours, or credited for someone else's work. Set the record straight, kindly.
Grading your own report card
You're taking stock of yourself. Be as fair as a good teacher would: honest about the gaps, generous about the effort.
