Popcorn

Bucket of popcorn, Movie popcorn, Popping corn

Popcorn goes with movie nights, county fairs and a bowl passed down the couch. Dream popcorn usually carries a relaxed, playful feeling: nothing serious, just a good time. The way it's made adds another layer: hard little kernels burst open in the heat, a neat image of ideas or feelings popping out under pressure. Grabbing popcorn to watch someone else's drama is a familiar joke, so ask yourself whether you're sitting on the sidelines instead of joining in. A huge tub all to yourself hints at a wish for a lazy treat.

• Sharing a bowl of popcornYou're craving a cozy night in with a friend. Ask someone over with no plan beyond a movie.
• Popcorn spilling everywhereA bit of mess is part of the fun right now. Sweep it up later and keep watching.
