Lantern

Lanterns, Paper lantern, Oil lantern

Before streetlights, a lantern was how people found their way home after dark, its flame shut behind glass so the wind couldn't blow it out. Dream lanterns often point to guidance you carry with you: your values, a hope or the words of someone whose advice keeps you steady. Paper lanterns strung across a garden or drifting up into the sky give a festive, wishful feeling. A lantern swinging on an old ship or a mountain path lends the scene a sense of adventure. One that has run out of oil may hint that you've been giving light to others without refilling your own.
