Fence

Fences, Picket fence, Garden fence

A fence marks where one space ends and another begins. In a dream, that line is usually a boundary in your own life. A neat white picket fence calls up the classic image of a settled, comfortable home. A tall fence you can't get past is an obstacle, or a limit someone has set for you. Building or mending one means you're getting clearer about what's yours and what isn't. Climbing over a fence says you're itching to break out of a routine that feels too narrow.

Dream variations

• Building a fenceYou're setting clear limits. Good fences make good neighbors, as the saying goes, so keep yours firm and friendly.
• Climbing a fenceYou'd like to get past a restriction. Ask whether it's really holding you back or just making you feel safe.
• A broken fenceA boundary in your life has slipped. Mend it before more gets through.
• Peeking through a fenceYou're curious about something you're not part of yet. Ask to be let in instead of watching from outside.
