Basketball

Playing basketball, Basketball game, Shooting hoops

Basketball is fast, close and loud: ten players, one ball and a hoop that suddenly looks very small when it's your turn to shoot. A dream about the game often comes down to timing and teamwork, knowing when to pass and when to take the shot yourself. Sinking a basket from far away is a jolt of confidence about a goal in waking life. Being the shortest player on the court can mean you feel outmatched, though quick hands often count for more than height. Shooting hoops alone in a driveway is a quieter scene, a chance to practice and think.

Dream variations

• Missing an easy shotYou fumbled something you know you can do. Shake it off; the next play is already starting.
• The winning shot at the buzzerPressure is building toward one deciding moment. You've practiced for this, so take the shot.
• Never getting the ballYou feel left out of the action in a group. Move into open space where people can see you, and call for the ball.
• Playing basketball with old friendsYou miss working at something side by side, just for fun. Get the gang back together, even if nobody keeps score.
