Saying sorry in a dream can feel surprisingly real, and you may wake up still feeling the words. Often the dream is a rehearsal: you're trying out how an apology would sound, or how it would be received. It can also show that you're taking responsibility for something, which takes courage and humility. Who you apologized to matters, and so does whether you meant it. If someone apologized to you, notice how it felt to hear it: relief, doubt or nothing much at all can each tell you where you stand.

• Apologizing over and overYou may be carrying blame that isn't all yours. Say sorry once, then let it stand.
• An apology that's refusedYou can't decide how someone takes your words. You've done your part; the rest is theirs.
• Someone apologizing to youAn old hurt still wants to be acknowledged. Notice whether the words in the dream were enough for you.
• Apologizing to an old friendA falling-out from years back still bothers you. You can make peace with it on your side, whether or not you ever speak again.
