Abandoned building

Abandoned house, Derelict building, Ghost town

Dust drifting in the light, peeling paint and the hush of a place everyone has left: an abandoned building makes a striking dream setting. It often stands for a part of life that people, maybe including you, have moved away from, such as an old job, a group of friends or a past way of living. Weeds pushing up through the floor show how quickly a place fades once nobody tends it, and may ask what you still want to look after. Feeling alone inside may mean you sense others have gone ahead without you. Hearing your own footsteps echo in empty halls may point to a stretch with fewer people around than you're used to.

Dream variations

• Exploring an abandoned buildingYou're curious about what was left behind and why. Ask the questions others have stopped asking.
• Being trapped insideEveryone else seems to have moved on from a situation that still holds you. Ask what it would take for you to be ready too.
• Fixing it upYou see promise in something others gave up on. Start small and let the results speak.
